BALLARAT HOUSE Unveiled

Level 5 of the heritage listed Ballarat House in Surry Hills has been transformed from an old warehouse into a modern workspace that embraces its heritage elements. Designed by Hill Thallis Architects and built by Beach Constructions, the integration of its original timber structure with a contemporary design ensures the heritage features such high ceilings, exposed timber beams and large arch windows are not only maintained but accentuated.

Every effort was made to re-use original materials, for example the timber from the original roof was re-purposed to create beautiful timber screening between the main floor and the amenities. To maximise space and functionality, a new mezzanine floor was added to create an additional level as well as a roof top terrace that opens up to view of the city. The project was completed December 2019.
