Beach Constructions’ adaptive re-use project in Surry Hills has proved to be very popular taking out the Australian Institute of Building’s 2020 People’s Choice Award for NSW.

Ballarat House, a local heritage item is an excellent example of heritage protection and contemporary architectural design being brought to life by Beach’s innovative and collaborative approach to construction.

The Beach team transformed Level 5 of a dilapidated old warehouse into a modern workspace with a mezzanine floor and roof top terrace along with updating the ground floor foyer entrance.  The timber from the original 100 year old roof was re-purposed and used internally to create timber privacy screening which is now a key feature of the architectural design.

“We are very proud of the Ballarat House Project. We have also entered it into the Australian Institute of Building Professional Excellence in Buildings Awards. The winner will be announced in November”, said Sarkis Mouradian, Construction Director at Beach Constructions NSW.
